Flower Tattoos - The Many Meanings

With a larger acceptance of women getting tattooed, flower tattoos have risen in popularity. The wonderful thing about these tattoos is there are so many different types and colors of flowers, all with different meanings. Generically, the flowers can mean a few different things, while specific flowers like the lotus and rose can mean more specific things.

A flower tattoo in general connects back to nature, and brings up images of life, such as birth, procreation and vitality. This is because we see the duration of life when we look at a flower. We see a flower emerge from the earth, and then grow day by day. We see a flower bloom, and later dry up and wilt away.

To have a tattoo picturing a flower reminds us of that whole process of life. Additionally, different colors of flowers on a tattoo symbolize different things as well. Seeing a white flower tattoo brings up the idea of purity, while the color of red on a flower can mean the blood of Christ or burning passion.

Being tattooed with a rose symbolizes love, or more specifically a pure love. As a matter of fact, around the 16th century, a rose was tattooed on people condemned to death, so they would be recognized immediately if they ever escaped the gallows. However, nowadays the rose is tattooed as a symbol of love and passion. Much of the tattoo symbolism of this flower has to do with the rose being a flower that is given during romantic occasions. This is why a rose is often tattooed on someone to show their love for a certain person. It's probably not a coincidence that the rose tattoo is the most popular of all tattoos picturing flowers, and even more so, since men are getting tattooed with roses as well.

Just as a rose tattoo symbolizes love and purity in the west, a tattoo with a lotus flower symbolizes the same things in the east. A tattoo with the lotus flower, though, brings with it a little more meaning. This tattoo also symbolizes beauty, goodness, fortune, enlightenment, and peace.

Continuing along this line, an acacia tattoo symbolizes chaste love and friendship. Some Irish get tattooed with a flower called Bells of Ireland. This flower usually means good luck, but the name may call the bells of freedom to ring upon Ireland.

If you consider yourself a perfect lover, you might want to have a tulip tattooed on your arm to symbolize fame and passionate love. However, if you are a shy and timid person, the violet tattoo is perfect for you.

Iris stand for faith wisdom and virtue. And magnolias symbolize a person's love for nature and gives a sense of nobility.

Getting tattooed with a flower can have these different meanings along with being quite beautiful and elegant. The flower can be as small and dainty or as large and bold as your want. Whichever flower you choose, be it a rose, a lotus, a violet or any other your tattoo can say exactly what you want it to.

Unique Tattoos

Coming up with your own Unique Tattoos can be a challenging and rewarding experience that you can have for a lifetime. I decided to write this short article to help those of you that are thinking about getting Unique Tattoos help to ensure that the end result can be nothing but rewarding! The last thing that you want is something to be put on your body that was not exactly what you wanted. Think of a time that you bought something at a store and it was not exactly to your taste and you said to yourself that you would live with it, not only to find out over time that ate at you because you later regretted your decision. Should have, could have, and would have done this, that, or the other is not the feeling that you want after you get a tattoo.

One of the first places that I look to getting ideas is the Internet. Why, because I can do this in the convenience of my own home, and on my own schedule. I do not have to be in front of a pushy sales person/artist, etc. You should look at one category per sitting, for example: Tribal, Animals, Nature, Gothic, Symbols, Religious, etc. This will help you in staying focused and not be overwhelmed. Take from these sittings a small set of samples that match your vision. Do this over some time and make sure you narrow down to the category and specific designs that match your vision. Also be conscious towards the style and color scheme as well. In addition, you want to keep in mind the size and placement of the tattoo on your body.

After you have some samples, go to at least 3-5 tattoo shops in your immediate area and have a look at the style of tattoos that the Artists have to display. By doing this you will narrow down to one Artist that has a style that closely matches your vision. This exercise alone will reduce the risks of not getting what you want immensely.

The next step and this may cost a little extra, but is well worth it in the long run, as you want to get the exact tattoo that you desire.NO Exceptions. Have the Artist draw up the design that matches what you are looking for. What I ask them to do is come up with a few different drawings, 3 to 5, or renditions so that I can make a choice. This is like when a Company goes to brand their company name they usually look at samples of logos, then they choose the best logo to match there vision. You want the Artist to use full color and draw the design on paper to the actual 1 to 1 size of the tattoo. You now have choices, and if all the drawing samples are not to your liking then have them draw up another set or find another Artist. You can place the samples on your body to know in advance if it is the right size/color and what the positioning will be like. Thirdly, when it comes to the big day when you go to get the tattoo done, both the Artist and you will know exactly what the final outcome will be. There should be no surprises!

I hope that this article serves you very well and helps you avoid the costs of making a serious mistake. One of the places that I have found as a starting point for coming up with Unique Tattoos and gathering up ideas can be found by clicking here and checking out my Blog - Sun Tattoos.

Small Feminine Tattoos

Small feminine tattoos have been a part of the human culture for many thousands of years, the early Christians used small tattoo designs as a symbol of recognition for a while. Even a body that was 9000 years old which was excavated recently had a tattoo on it!

The word 'tattoo' was first introduced into the English language after Captain Cook made his voyages to Tahiti and western sailors started to have them done. Tattoos have attracted a negative reputation and people have associated them with the lower class or those with a criminal background as in the early part of the 19th Century, these were the types of people who had them done in the UK and America. Tattoos held on to this negative image until fairly recently because tattoos have become a popular fashion accessory today.

The reason that people get tattoos is varied. Some individuals get them done as a result of having too much alcohol and find themselves permanently embellished by the morning! Others choose to have one for personal reasons, to be an individual, for culture, fashion, to belong, to rebel or just to annoy their parents.

Getting a tattoo done is not without risk. If you have it done at a reputable tattoo parlor then you minimize these health issues but Hepatitis C, Impetigo or school sores and other allergic reactions can complicate healings. However the most common problem afterwards is simply some form of regret.

Tattooing is a painful process and should be considered extremely carefully as they are very expensive to remove and will always leave a scar. They are a permanent feature of your skin and a lot of thought should be put into why you want it done and whether you will still agree with the content or design say, in 30 years time. Aging skin with a tattoo looks very different to a young fashion statement.

If you do decide to get a tattoo, make sure you research the artist to make sure they have a good reputation. They should have a license, credentials and offer you references, or let you contact some of their past clients. The artist should work in a clean, well kept parlor with sterile equipment and remember, if they look at all dodgy, you only have one chance to get it right!

A new tattoo will need good care and attention. Wash lightly and pat dry with a towel. Never rub the tattoo. It is going to scab over and heal and if you disturb the colors while they are healing, you will get a somewhat less than perfect blurred image! You must not soak your new tattoo for at least a week, that means swimming too. Neither should you expose it to the sun for the same time frame.

It is normal for your small feminine tattoos to itch and peel in the process of healing but under no circumstances should you pick it, or once again you are going to have a less than perfect result. If your small tattoo design appears red or sore, this could be an indication of an infection and you need to see a doctor who may prescribe antibiotics.

When all is said and done if you are determined to get a tattoo then you may as well make it a good one. Choose your small tattoo design carefully, find a quality design supplier before going to the tattoo parlor and presenting your chosen design and having it embedded permanently.

Cute Tattoos For Girls

Many women are looking for cute tattoos. They may be looking for a tattoo that reminds them of there childhood and a time of innocence. A cute tattoo design will also help emphasize their playful girly side. These designs are usually small and of a delicate nature. Another advantage of a tattoo that is small would be that if for some reason you did not like your tattoo anymore it would be easy to cover it up.

You want to make sure that you never put a small tattoo in an area that will stretch a lot. Some reasons why this may happen is from weight changes or a pregnancy. The design can fade or become damaged.

Another thing to consider when picking a cute tattoo design is that it should have meaning and be original. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to go through as many designs as you can, this can easily be done from home on your computer with a good tattoo gallery. If you wanted a unique design then you can combine two designs together in order to make something completely unique.

Some popular designs include: Flowers, Hearts, Butterflies, Fairies, Tribal, Celtic, Stars and Shooting Stars, Dolphins, Zodiac.

A few popular spots for cute tattoos include: the lower back, the shoulder, back of the neck, inside of the wrist, above or below the belly button, upper part of the arm, hips, calves, ankle, feet.

No mater what design you choose avoid getting stressed out and just have fun with it, you will have your tattoo for a lifetime and picking the tattoo is part of the experience.

Popular Tattoos For Men & Women

When you walk into a tattoo parlor, you are instantly greeted with eye-catching designs filled with color and complexity. Unless you have already decided on a design, it can be very difficult to select one on the spot. Even if you have a selected design already in mind, the artist may present you with varying possibilities that will present you with a difficult decision.

Before arriving for your tattoo, it is a good idea to have a selection of designs that you are interested in. Men and women will naturally select different images whereas the gentleman may prefer a masculine and powerful tattoo and the woman may prefer something dainty and pretty. For example, a gentleman may prefer a large tattoo with a lot of color or something that symbolizes the love that he shares for his wife or girlfriend. It is advisable that tattoo recipients give careful consideration to personalized tattoos. Why? If the relationship ends later, the tattoo will still remain unless it is surgically removed. Therefore, many gentlemen are electing to have symbols that remind them of something that they enjoy, such as a career, a hobby or a symbol that means something special to their life.

Women who decide to have a permanent tattoo will often select a dainty image, such as a heart, butterfly or floral depiction. These are small and can be placed anywhere, but most commonly are located on the hip, ankle or back of the shoulder area. Women typically select a smaller tattoo in an effort to make a statement of beauty and yet something that draws attention to a certain area, such as the leg or hip.

Even with these thoughts in mind, a tattoo is a very personal thing and must be a reflection of something that is important to the recipient. Therefore, there really isn't a universal 'man' or 'woman' tattoo. Upon discussing various choices with the artist, a tattoo recipient will gain a better understanding of options and design choices. In addition, they will be able to browse through an image book or folder that will show a number of different tattoo choices, which will enable them to better decide which is right for them.

Female Tattoos

Tattoos used to be just for the bad guys in the army, in jail, and those who had Harleys. However, today tattoos have an amazing following and there are tattoo fans among all age groups and more frequently among women. It's amazing since tattoos used to be a guy thing, but today they are finding more and more women fans. In addition, more women are choosing a tattoo that is big and bold. Some of the most popular tattoo designs for women include tribal designs, stars, rose, and newly designed hearts. The types of tattoos women are choosing are certainly becoming bigger and bolder!

One of the most famous locations for the female tattoo is the lower back. Tattoos in this location range from wide, detailed tattoos to much smaller, finer tattoos that aren't quite as obvious. But, the point of having a tattoo in this location is that it is easily covered up yet can be shown off with low cut means and the like with very little effort. Women have really come to love the lower back tattoo!

Another reason for the lower back tattoo is that it is sexy. An upper arm tattoo is more of a man's style, but a lower back tattoo is much more attractive and sexy than other locations. Lower stomach tattoos are also popular among women and carry the same sex appeal. So, basically, the two locations women choose most often for tattoos are sexy and can still be covered up.

Once upon a time tattoos on women were taboo. In fact, women who crossed the line and got a visible tattoo were often talked about, turned down for jobs, and just looked upon as trash. It has only happened in the last decade that women have become confident with tattoos and begun experimenting with them. Growth of tattoos among women has spread like wildfire. Approximately 50 years ago on 10% of the tattooed population were women. Now, more than 65% of the tattooed population are women.

If you are interested in a female tattoo then you should think more about what makes you happy and what will complement your style more so than what everyone else is doing. For the most part you will probably be like most other women and want a tattoo that is easily covered in case it doesn't go so well with that formal dress or at your job. Additionally, you might want your tattoo to have sex appeal and choose your lower back or lower abdomen for that particular purpose. Regardless, there are a lot of places to have a tattoo and special creams to cover up in the event you need to do so.

Before getting a tattoo, however, do a little research and think about your lifestyle. You want to get the best tattoo for you so it is worth thinking about it a little while. You can even have a tattoo artist specially design a tattoo just for you. Don't feel like you have to choose a particular tattoo or body location just because you are a woman. Instead, pick the tattoo you love and have it placed on any part of your body. As long as you are happy with your tattoo and will be happy forever then that is all that matters!

Small Feminine Tattoos

Body art comes in different forms, the most common of which are tattoos. Tattoos are one of the most ancient forms of body art, for which you will be providing the canvas. And because tattoos have soared in popularity over the past decade, there is no shortage of tattoo "studios" more than willing to practice their artistry on you.

Tattoos originated as ancient, symbolic art forms, and many of them retain their symbolic meanings today. Although there are still some people who get tattoos strictly based on the design, some of those people tend to regret their choice of tattoo later on in their life. Tattoos can be quite beautiful, and capture a lot of positive attention. Most people who decide to get tattoos today choose them for their symbolic meaning, as well as the beauty. Men and women alike have tattoos, some small tattoos, some large tattoos encompassing their entire body and today tattoos are more common than ever, particularly small tattoos.

Tattoo artists are no longer willing to place dull lifeless designs in a seemingly haphazard way, but they tend to treat the body as a three-dimensional canvas onto which each tattoo is placed, to live in balance with the body and any existing tattoos. Permanent tattoo designs differ depending on culture, religious affiliations, gender, or personal liking and selections. For certain tattoo designs, some people prefer to look at real life photos or browse through artwork for ideas pertaining to their tattoo designs.

Many individuals select tattoo designs from those presented at a tattoo parlor, while others prefer to do some research and help ensure that their design is unlike any other. While there are tattoo designs that are gender specific, it is important to keep in mind that getting a tattoo is a very personal thing and the image that is ultimately chosen should be one that reflects something that is important to the wearer.

Although there are some exceptions, most men and women will naturally be drawn to different tattoo designs. Of all tattoo designs, women commonly select small feminine tattoos with hearts, butterflies, flowers, lettering, etc. Men, on the other hand, often prefer that their tattoo designs be placed on the upper arm, like a Robbie Williams tattoo on the chest or back.

Some of the more popular themes center around the following:

*Butterlies *Dragons *Flowers *Crosses *Fairy *Irish *Celtic *Animals *Dolphins *Tribal

Some popular sub themes are:

*cat tattoo designs *zodiac tattoo designs *dolphin tattoo designs *heart tattoo designs *small feminine tattoos

With the exception of those that have already chosen their preferred image, it can be very difficult to select from the many tattoo designs on the spot. Most of the time, people do not take the time to really think about why they choose a particular tattoo and look at other tattoo designs that are available. It takes a lot of decision-making as well as researching for meanings of different tattoo designs and ideas. There are millions of designs out there for tattoos - including different color combinations that have helped to make tattoos the phenomenon they are today. If you are ready to make a significant investment in your body art then custom design tattoos are for you.

If you are ready to move forward and want to find that perfect tattoo, the tattoo you will always be proud of, then we recommend you read a review that has taken all the legwork out of your search. Go to tattoo designs.

Tattoos-Popular Tattoo Designs for Girls

Girls are always asking me what tattoos they should get or what I think are the hottest tattoos for girls. Unfortunately there is no clear cut answer simply because there are as many different types of tattoos are there are girls. What one person might find sexy another might consider unattractive or very unfeminine.

Certain styles of tattoos might not suit the image you want to project. For example certain work environments may not accept highly visible tattoos even though tattoos are becoming more and more accepted. It may be wise to hold off getting that sacred heart tattoo emblazoned across your chest if your boss is going to flip out if (s)he sees it!

So in saying that what I hope to do in this short article is offer my insight and experience within the tattoo industry for the past 9 or 10 years and point out the current tattoo trends and what the most popular styles of tattoos are for girls. At the end of the day you want a tattoo that has lasting appeal and not a tattoo that was done on a whim. If I give you some good ideas for your next tattoo all the better...

Trends come and go. What was cool ten years ago is no longer cool. In the nineties certain types of tattoos such as cartoon characters like Betty Boop, barbed wire armbands and dolphins were in. Looking at them now they appear very cheesy and basic.

Tattoo art has come such a long way in the past few years even. Certain styles of tattoos have become perennial and have risen to a point where they are getting the respect and acknowledged they deserve for their intricacy and artistry.

Styles as diverse as Japanese tattoos, Indian/Hindu tattoos, Anime, Traditional American and Floral designs are raising the bar higher and higher and becoming increasingly popular.

Alongside that is the fact that people are beginning to see their skin as a human canvas and not just settling for random tattoos placed haphazardly on a part of the body that is hidden. Nowadays more and more girls are getting larger tattoos and more of them.

This may explain the popularity of Japanese tattoos. In traditional Japanese tattoos each character has a meaning and interacts with the other tattoo designs as part of the whole.

The same is true for Traditional American tattoos. Previously what were once done as individual tattoos from disparate elements of American culture are now being woven into an organic and is more like a story unfolding.

Top Five Most Popular Tattoos for Girls

Irezumi - Traditional Japanese tattoos - More and more girls are asking for large tattoo designs such as koi fish, dragons on their hips, back and arms.

Traditional American tattoos - Old school 'Sailor Jerry' tattoos and images such as classic American cars, pin-ups, swallows and nautical stars are becoming more popular on girls chests, abdomen, back and legs.

Floral tattoos - So many girls are getting flower tattoos as full sleeve tattoos or covering their entire back or legs with floral designs. Flower tattoo designs such as lotus flowers, peonies, orchids, chrysanthemums and flowering vines are the most popular.

Anime - Japanese animation has become massive and doesn't show any sign of disappearing any time soon. As a result Anime tattoos have become popular in the past five years or so. The only risk with Anime tattoo is that unlike other styles will probably age much quicker even though it looks great now.

Indian / Hindu tattoo designs - Like ancient Indian texts and spirituality being rediscovered by people in the West since the 1960's it has been reflected in the demand for Indian tattoo designs. They say everything old become new again.

Finally the most important decision is not to get a tattoo on a whim or choose a tattoo that you think is cute or trendy. Give it a lot of thought. Good art should last. Think of Mona Lisa's smile...
